The 2023 CAF Best Player list has been completed with Victor Osimhen, according to a statement from the football organization.
“The CAF Awards 2023 men’s shortlists have been announced,” the regulatory body of African football announced on Friday.
The overwhelming favorite and forward for Napoli is the only Nigerian to qualify. He will be looking to cap off an outstanding season in which he earned the Italian Scuddeto and the league’s leading scorer award.
Osimhen placed eighth at the 2023 Ballon d’Or competition, which was conducted in the French capital of Paris, a few weeks ago.
Other prominent players who made the final 10 nominees for the CAF award include, among others, incumbent and Senegalese forward Sadio Mane, Algerian Riyad Mahrez, and Moroccan Achraf Hakimi.
CAF further stated that a voting panel comprised of media professionals, the CAF Technical Committee, head coaches, and captains of member associations and clubs participating in the group phases of the Interclub competitions would determine the ultimate winner of each category.
The Awards Gala is scheduled to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday, December 11, 2023.
