Plateau: Muftwang breaks silence as Appeal Court sacks him

Caleb Muftwang, Plateau State governor has urged residents and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain calm and assured them that as long as God reigns, his mandate will be safeguarded and protected.

Muftwang stated this in a statement published in response to the Court of Appeal ruling that removed him from office on Sunday.

Muftwang, in a statement issued through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, called the decision as a “temporary setback” that will not dissuade him from placing the state on the path of unity, peace, and progress.

He also stated that he has directed his legal team to submit an appeal with the Supreme Court.

News27 Nigeria reported that the Appeal Court in Abuja, in a decision issued on Sunday, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give a Certificate of Return to the APC candidate, Nentawe Goshwe.

The appellate court overturned the Tribunal’s decision to confirm Governor Mutfwang’s election.

It found that the Muftwang was not properly nominated to run in the election by the PDP.
