On Thursday, the Court of Appeal in Abuja recognized Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the duly elected governor of Gombe State.
In a unanimous verdict by a three-member panel of justices, the appellate court dismissed as without merit an appeal filed by the PDP’s candidate, Jibrin Barde, to question the outcome of the state’s gubernatorial election on March 18.
The court found no reason to reverse the Gombe State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling on September 23, which validated Yahaya’s election victory as governor.
