Plateau : Appeal Court sacks 11 PDP lawmakers

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed 11 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MPs from the Plateau State House of Assembly.

The panel, chaired by Justice Okon Abang, ruled unanimously on Friday that all of the fired lawmakers squandered votes in the March 2023 general election because their party lacked organization.

According to Abang, the PDP breached section 177 of the 1999 constitution and hence could not sponsor candidates in an election.

The court, however, certified all second-place finishers in the March 18 elections to be victors.
