The National Industrial Court has barred the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, and their affiliates from engaging in strike or industrial action.
Following an unusual National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday in Abuja, the unions declared a total national strike beginning on November 14, 2023.
The unions made the decision in response to the alleged assault on the NLC National President, Joe Ajaero, last week in Imo state.

However, the Federal Government, the Attorney General of the Federation, and the Minister of Justice filed an ex-parte application, asking the court to prevent the unions from going on strike.
Justice Benedict Kanyip, President of the Court, ordered the unions to call off their planned statewide strike on Friday.
