The Court of Appeal in Lagos has sacked Labour Party, LP’s Olukayode Doherty and pronounced the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Rauf Age-Suleiman as the winner of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Amuwo-Odofin II Constituency election.
The court upheld a previous verdict by the Election Petition Tribunal.
The judiciary had directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deliver Sulaiman with the certificate of return as the election winner.
The court ruled that the Electoral Act 2022 prohibits a candidate from being proclaimed the winner if the candidate did not fully engage in the election process.
